session timeouts

I'm not aware of any session timeout 'feature' which has been giving me
issues lately.  Basically, I have an application that uses the user
session to track things.  If the user walks away from their desk for 5 or
10 minutes and comes back, they start getting nullPointExceptions because
the object that's trying to be grabbed from the session context is no
longer there.  using gnujsp 1.0.1pre1 with jserv 1.1

This just may be coincidence but it seems to have started happening since
i moved to 1.0.1pre1.

I should revert back and see if this goes away.

Any thoughts?
