jcvs 5.0.7 beta

I'm using jCVS 5.0.7 beta on Solaris with jdk 1.2.1. It looks very
nice, though I'm a bit confused at the moment. I have a couple of
dumb questions, I hope someone has a moment to help me:

For beginnning users, it would be really nice if there was an easy way
to just give them a default editor and/or file viewer for all files.
It appears I presently have to add all sorts of preferences for
different filetypes?

Actually, even when I do use the preference editor to set things up,
it seems to be ignored. Is this a known bug? If not, what should I
send to explain what is happening?

Related to that, could someone give me an appropriate entry in the
.jcvsmailcap to cause jCVS to invoke gvim or xemacs on an
application/octet-stream? (Actually, should a Makefile really be
classed as an application/octet-stream? It appears that it is.)

If I want to add a checked out directory to the list of projects, I
have to hit "Add Project", then select the CVS/Entries file. While
this is usable, it's just a little confusing to new users. Perhaps it
could recognize that the main directory has a CVS directory in it?

Thanks for creating this program. I apologize for asking such dumb
questions.
