[jcvs] jcvs Cannot checkout files

Greetings,

I recieved no answer to my last post so I'm trying again.
I have my hookup to my cvs server going correctly. I cannot checkout my
project successfully.
A test module, which has a couple of files and folders I created on the
linux box works correctly.

My actual project is a java project which I put on a cd and copied to
the linux box. It won't work, neither with jcvs, MacCVSClient, or
MacCVSPro. It always hangs after making the first few folders correctly,
and sometimes *saying* it's making the first actual file, which it never
does. After having problems, I've been setting my cvs client to root
while I debug, feeling this would cancel any permission issues. (true?)

Once or twice I recieved an error saying "cannot get lock permission on folder".

If I check it out on the server itself I have no problems.

Why can't I check out any files?

thanks in advance.
