About The Giant Java Tree

The Giant Java Tree is a public domain project whose primary aim is to create a giant Java source tree consisting entirely of code that is licensed under the General Public License. Free Software.

The secondary goal of the Giant Java Tree is to experiment with the concept of large scale distributed software development. With the power of Java, CVS, and a cast of supporting code, the Giant Java Tree will provide immediate checkout, automatic documentation generation, distributed maintenance, release management, bug report tracking, and mailing list support.

There are, of course, similar projects on the net. However, it is my hope that the Java language, with its unique handling of namespace and documentation, will make the Giant Java Tree a unique and interesting project.

Furthermore, the project will provide a namespace for all of those Java hackers out there who don't have a domain name to use for their Java package names.

If you are a Java programmer, the Giant Java Tree will provide you with extensive packages to leverage for your GPL work, as well as myriad examples of coding in Java.

If you are a Java user, you will find many useful Java applications, and applets.
