Licensing Goals

I hope that I am not about to write Yet Another Free Software Definition. I am not qualified to do so. There are far better sources of such definitions, and they are referenced here for your due diligence.

On the other hand, I do believe I am somewhat qualified to summarize some of the important goals to be distilled from the above sources:

  • Free software should remain free.
  • Free software should promote reuse.
  • Free software should not subject its author to legal action.

So, that's it. I hope that was concise enough. If you feel I have been egregious in my omissions, or feel you can add substance to the above material, please feel free to email me!
